T20 World Cup Heads to USA and West Indies!
T20 World Cup 2024 will start on June 1 and will be an exciting journey for cricket lovers till June 29. This time, America and the West Indies are handling the hosting duties, and are organizing this prestigious tournament for the first time.
USA Co-Hosts T20 World Cup 2024
20 teams will participate in the T-20 World Cup 2024. Apart from the hosts, the top 8 teams – England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia and Netherlands – will enter the group stage directly. The remaining 12 teams have made their place through qualifier matches.
Team India: Strong Contenders for the Championship
The Indian team is also considered a strong contender for the title this time. The team captained by Rohit Sharma will start its campaign against Ireland on June 5. There will be a great clash between India and Pakistan on 9th June, which will be one of the main attractions of this tournament.
New Rule: ‘Stop Clock’ Ensures Faster Gameplay
Some new rules have also been implemented in the T-20 World Cup 2024. Under the ‘stop clock’ rule, the bowling team has to start the second over within 60 seconds of the end of one over.
If the match is tied, super over will be resorted to. In case of interruption due to rain, the decision will be taken according to the Duckworth-Lewis rule.
A reserve day has been kept for the first semi-final and final.
