Du Plessis’s stormy innings wasted.

Batting first against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 205 for two on the back of 88 runs by new captain Faf du Plessis and 118 runs for the second wicket with former captain Virat Kohli. Du Plessis hit seven sixes and four fours in his 57-ball innings.

Kohli and Dinesh Karthik also played a stormy innings.

Former RCB captain Virat Kohli also scored an unbeaten 41 in 29 balls with one four and two sixes. Dinesh Karthik scored 32 off 14 balls unbeaten in the last over. The Punjab bowlers made the occupation of the Bangalore batsmen simple by giving an additional 23 runs including 12 wides. Punjab decided to bowl after winning the toss and did not allow Royal Challengers Bangalore openers Du Plessis and Anuj Rawat to play freely among their bowlers. Rawat made 21 runs in 20 balls.

Dinesh Karthik played an explosive inning in the last two overs.

Dinesh Karthik hit two sixes and a four against Smith in the 19th over. Whereas against Sandeep Sharma in the last over, he took the score beyond 200 by hitting six and two fours. The Bangalore team hit stunning 13 sixes and nine fours throughout the innings.
