The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) detailed their plans for this league, noting: “During two weeks, 21 matches will take place across ten cities with teams playing between three and five matches per side – Punjab Kings will host Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon before Kolkata Knight Riders host Sunrisers Hyderabad later on that night in doubleheaders; on Sunday (March 24 March 24), Rajasthan Royals take on Lucknow Super Giants while Gujarat Titans clash against five-time winners Mumbai Indians for five editions victory.”

Underscoring their commitment to safety, BCCI stated they “will work closely with government and security agencies, adhering to all protocols and advice related to India’s general elections in May. Following the announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha election dates, any issues concerning the first two weeks’ schedule will be assessed and dealt with accordingly before consulting local authorities to create remaining schedules which take into account voting dates.”

Chairman Arun Dhumal of IPL made an important statement when he assured fans of an all-Indian tournament for 2019. While the 2009 IPL season saw matches played abroad (in South Africa) due to general elections in India, and some were relocated due to UAE restrictions in 2014 due to available election season, all matches for 2019’s edition took place despite general election uncertainty in India.
