Suryakumar Yadav and Cheteshwar Pujara Offered to Play for New Team After Being Dropped from Test Team
The Duleep Trophy 2023, a domestic cricket tournament in India, is set to kick off on June 28. This year, six teams will participate in the Duleep Trophy. Interestingly, the West Zone team has undergone significant changes. It should be noted that Rituraj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal were given a place in the Indian Test team for the West Indies tour next month. This has led to a reshuffling of the West Zone team.
Suryakumar Yadav and Cheteshwar Pujara, who missed out on a spot in the Indian team for the West Indies tour, are likely to make a strong impact for the West Zone team. Cheteshwar Pujara had been struggling with poor form during the World Test Championship final. His batting was not up to the mark, which resulted in him being left out of the Test team. Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav didn’t get an opportunity despite making his Test debut against Australia earlier this year. His batting prowess was not evident in the Test matches. However, both players have been selected for the ODI team against the West Indies. As a result, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have earned their spots in the Indian Test team due to their good form. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav and Cheteshwar Pujara have been given an opportunity to play for the West Zone team after being dropped from the Indian team. It is worth mentioning that Priyank Panchal is leading the West Zone team. Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan have also been given a chance in the team.
