The first double-header match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season was played on Sunday. The first match was bad for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai had to face defeat in the first match of the 10th season of IPL. Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai by four wickets. At the same time, in the second game, Punjab Kings registered their third-highest successful run chase by registering a five-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Delhi beat Mumbai
Chasing a target of 178 runs in Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel formed a winning partnership for the team after the top order collapsed in the fifth over itself. The seventh-wicket pair put on an excellent partnership of 73 runs to help Delhi chase down 178 runs with 10 balls to spare.
Plessis’s innings of 88 runs in vain
In the third match of the season, Faf du Plessis’s record 88 with Virat Kohli’s 41 off 29 balls and 32 off 14 balls by Dinesh Karthik helped RCB post 205 for two in 20 overs. However, a power-packed Punjab Kings line-up chased down a mighty total with one over to spare and beat RCB by five wickets.

Orange Cap
After playing one match, Faf du Plessis is at the top of the list of Orange Cap. Ishan Kishan of Mumbai Indians is at number two. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who scored a half-century in the first match, has now come at number three. Delhi’s Lalit Yadav has reached number four, while KKR’s Ajinkya Rahane is at number five.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ pair of Basil Thampi and Murugan Ashwin, who stunned Delhi with their three and two wickets in the game on Sunday, are third and fourth on the list.
