Virat Kohli to be Digvesh Rathi’s next notebook celebration target? Spinner finally breaks silence

Digvesh Rathi has become quite popular among the fans in his very first IPL season, largely due to his celebration and not his performance.

While the spinner has undoubtedly made an impact with his spin bowling this year, it would not be wrong to say that he has been garnering more attention because of his ‘notebook celebration’. Playing for Lucknow Super Giants, the spinner from Delhi made an instant impression with the ball.

He picked up 7 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of less than 8. During the same period, he was also fined not once but twice for his “notebook” celebration. However, such has been his obsession with the celebration that he has continued doing it even after being fined twice.

The same celebration also led to a one-match suspension for Digvesh Rathi. The LSG spinner was suspended for one match after giving a send-off to Sunrisers Hyderabad star Abhishek Sharma. As a result, he missed LSG’s last game against the Gujarat Titans but is expected to return to the team for the upcoming game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Digvesh Rathi to give send-off to Virat Kohli:

The fans are definitely waiting for the battle between Digvesh Rathi and Virat Kohli when LSG and RCB lock horns against each other. The last time a bowler tried the notebook celebration against Kohli, it backfired on him in a spectacular fashion. The bowler was West Indies’ Kesrick Williams.

Will Digvesh Rathi dare to do the celebration if he dismisses Kohli in the upcoming match? Well, the LSG bowler has made it clear that he won’t be ticking Kohli’s name in his notebook.

Ahead of the match, Rathi was interacting with the fans when he was asked, “Agla number kiska? (Whose number is next?).”

Even before the spinner could say anything, the crowd started taking Kohli’s name. However, Rathi had a sheepish smile on his face, and he made his intentions clear by shaking his head, indicating that he won’t be doing his trademark celebration if he gets the prized wicket of Kohli.

Meanwhile, Rathi will look to end the campaign on a strong note. He has picked up 14 wickets in 12 games so far and will be eyeing a strong performance against RCB.
