Virat Kohli directly targeted as MS Dhoni questioned about not leaving Ranchi by famous Indian broadcaster

MS Dhoni has been the most successful captain in world cricket; he remains to date the only captain to win all three ICC trophies as the captain of Team India. He has retired from international cricket and continues to play only the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni defied age with his fitness at the age of 44 and continues to showcase his brilliant cricketing mind on the field during the rich-cash league.

The legend was recently spotted in conversation with sports broadcaster, anchor, and commentator Jatin Sapru in a Mahi Unplugged event. In this conversation, he was asked about a lot of things, of him ever come to the commentary field, and also why he never left his hometown, Ranchi, as many cricketers do after becoming successful and shifting to a metro city. Despite travelling the world and spending his time in Chennai during the IPL, he comes back to his city.

While asking this to MS Dhoni, Jatin Sapru might have taken a slight dig at Virat Kohli, who hails from Delhi and is now settled in London.

MS Dhoni has a deep connection with Ranchi

In reply to the question, MS Dhoni said, “Well, to a lot of extent I’m a small city boy and interestingly 2004 I made my debut in December and 2005 mid-May, I had a bit with one of the senior cricketer.”

Your daily dose of cricket!

“You know, so he asked me, okay, when are you moving out of Ranchi? So if a senior asks, you know, you take it seriously, there has to be something. So like, why should I move? So he’s like, no, it’s not so easy to live in a small city, you know. So I was like, no, no, I’m very happy over there. You know, there’s no good reason for me to move out. It is well connected. We have an airport, there are few flights that takes me to Delhi and Mumbai.”

‘Now after 20 years, you know, I’m still there’- MS Dhoni

“And if I need to go anywhere, I can go from there and it’s very well connected with train also. He just smiled at me and he’s like, okay, we’ll talk about it next year. And now after 20 years, you know, I’m still there. I just love the city. I have very fond memories of Ranchi.”

“I have seen the city grow in its own way. You know, though I lived in a colony and it was a self-sustained colony, it hadeverything right from hospital to community hall that used to screen movies, grounds, library, everything cooperated, everything was there. So there’s no good reason for me to get out of the colony. And once I started playing cricket, then I explored Ranchi more and somehow I loved it.”

MS Dhoni concluded saying, “You know, I can get out of my house and come back to my house maybe 10 times in a day, which is not possible in a metro. You know, I actually spoke to a lot of cricketers who live in Mumbai and they were like, if we have to go to the office and not all of them are India players.” Dhoni has been often spotted enjoying his time at his home in Ranchi and riding his bike while going for practice and also driving through the city as well.
