Sanju Samson’s string of low scores continues as he was yet again dismissed cheaply in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clash. After hitting a six, he fell to Jacob Duffy for the score of just 9 runs. This is his third low score since joining the new franchise in IPL. He has not had the best of starts in the tournament.
While chasing a target of 251, Sanju Samson had a loose shot away from his body and nicked it through to Devdutt Padikkal at slip. Duffy was thrilled after picking the wicket, while Samson and those in fan in yellow were far from pleased. CSK had lost three wickets, and they had not even completed three overs yet, slumping to 30/3.
Sanju Samson fails to impress
Sanju Samson did not have the best of starts in CSK colours as he now has three single-digit scores in the first three games of the IPL 2026. Samson scored 6,7,9 in the first three matches; this is a worrying sign for CSK. The wicket-keeper batter who was the Player of the Tournament in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has failed.

Sanju Samson was the POTT in the T20 World Cup after his amazing batting for the India National Cricket Team. He scored 321 runs in just five innings; however, he has not carried any of the form into the IPL 2026. He was traded from the Rajasthan Royals in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran for INR 18 crore.
CSK found themselves under shallow waters
CSK have now lost the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ayush Mhatre, and Sanju Samson. The top three of the Yellow Army had to get the start for chasing the target; however, they are now all back at the pavilion. CSK find themselves in deep waters while chasing such a huge total.
Sarfaraz Khan took charge with scoring a 50 off 24 balls, but was dismissed soon after scoring the half-century as the fourth wicket for CSK was down. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be under huge pressure after this match, as CSK will lose three consecutive matches for the first time.
Tim David show in Chinnaswamy
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to field first. Both teams came into the match with an unchanged XI. RCB batters smacked the CSK bowlers all over the park, as Devdutt Padikkal started the rampage, scoring a fifty.
Then it was taken over by captain Rajat Patidar and Tim David as they scored 97 runs in the last five overs. Tim David smashed 30 runs off the 19th over to Jamie Overton and struck four sixes in the same over. This was also the highest ever total in IPL 2026 and the highest total in the RCB vs CSK. RCB were at their absolute best on the night, and they are nearing to their second win of the tournament.
