Josh Inglis Smashes Jasprit Bumrah for 20 Runs In An Over


Josh Inglis, on Sunday (June 1), took Jasprit Bumrah to the cleaners during the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Set a target of 204 runs, Punjab Kings were off to a shaky start as their in-form opener Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed cheaply in the third over.

On the first ball of the third over bowled by Trent Boult, Reece Topley took a brilliant catch at short fine leg to send Prabhsimran and give Mumbai Indians the crucial breakthrough.

However, the advantage did not last long as Josh Inglis put the Punjab Kings in a strong position by attacking Jasprit Bumrah, arguably the best pacer in the world at present.

The Mumbai Indians pace spearhead was introduced into the attack in the 5th over and Inglis decided to take him on straightaway. The Australia star smashed Jasprit Bumrah for 20 runs to shift the momentum to his team’s side.

Inglish goes on Destructive Mode

He welcomed Bumrah into the attack by hitting him for a four before the pacer bowled a dot ball. On the third ball, Inglis hit Bumrah for a six.

It was followed by another dot before Inglis ended the over by hitting Bumrah for a four and a six to collect 20 runs. During the same over, Punjab Kings also crossed the 50-run mark.

Mumbai Indians, however, struck back in the very next over with Ashwani Kumar dismissing Priyansh Arya. On the first ball of the sixth over, the left-arm pacer dismissed Arya to give Mumbai the second breakthrough. At the time of writing this report, Punjab Kings were on 70/2 after 7 overs. Inglis was on 37 while captain Shreyas Iyer was batting on 7.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians finished their innings on 203/6. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma top-scored for Mumbai with both batsmen scoring 44 runs each. The winner of the ongoing game will take on RCB in the final.
