Jamie Overton bamboozles Devdutt Padikkal in RCB vs CSK clash

A fantastic night came to an end. CSK all-rounder Jamie Overton clean bowled the top order batter of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal played another impactful knock for the defending champions, RCB.

Tonight against the Chennai Super Kings (CKS), the batter, who had scored a ton of runs ahead of the IPL 2026 in the domestic season, registered a half-century off 29 balls. His innings was decorated with five 4s and a couple of 6s. CSK’s Jamie Overton got the reward as he went on the fuller side of the pitch.

Devdutt Padikkal missed, Jamie Overton hit

Devdutt Padikkal went to play a lap shot by making some room. The room was probably too much to play the fancy shot, and enough for the bowler to hit the leg stump. RCB lost his 3rd wicket for 151 runs in 14.1 overs. Overton got his first wicket of the match. An entertaining match is underway at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The first innings of the ongoing Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings (RCB vs CSK) match was full of entertaining moments. Though the most entertaining part of the phase came when Rajat Patidar and Tim David started ruling the match. These two middle-order batters simply toyed with the CSK bowling unit despite the fall of some of their top strikers.

Four RCB batters, including Devdutt Padikkal, did most of the tasks for the team

Apart from Virat Kohli’s unusual 28-run knock, the other batters of RCB were in full flow against the opposing team’s bowlers. Devdutt Padikkal and Tim David registered half-centuries each, while their captain Rajat Patidar and one of their openers Phil Salt missed their fifty by only a few runs. Salt dismissed for 46, and Patidar remained unbeaten for 48.

The pair of Rajat Patidar and the Aussie all-rounder Tim David simply vandalized the bowling department of the Chennai Super Kings as both of them maintained a strike rate over 250. Patidar remained unbeaten for 48, facing only 19 balls. During the course, he smashed six 6s and one 4, which took his strike rate to 252.63.

On the other side, David went berserk to notch an unbeaten 70-run knock off 25. With three 4s and eight 6s, his strike rate was 280.0. RCB, batting first, registered a massive total of 250 in 20 overs in exchange for 3 wickets only.

Devdutt Padikkal praised Tim David

According to the stats provided by Cricbuzz, 19 sixes is the third most by RCB in an IPL innings, and the most for any team against CSK, surpassing 17 each by KKR (Chennai, 2018) and RR (Sharjah, 2020).

Now CSK are in deep trouble chasing the target of 251 as they are two wickets down with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre are back in the pavilion failing to trouble the RCB bowlers.
