A source privy to the developments confirmed that Ahmedabad will host the final match and Qualifier 2, but the BCCI is yet to take a call on Lucknow and Kolkata. Some members are in favor of Kolkata and some are in favor of Lucknow. Looking at the situation so far, it seems that Kolkata can get 2 matches, but the final decision is yet to be taken.
Earlier, there were reports that Lucknow might host some knockout matches with the city-based team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) also participating in the IPL. But BCCI sources have confirmed that even though such a proposal was put forward.
League matches are being held on four grounds
A total of 70 league matches are being organized in IPL 2022 at four venues in Mumbai and Pune. 20 matches are to be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, 15 at Brabourne Stadium, 20 at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, and 15 at MCA International Cricket Stadium in Pune.
On the other hand, the shadow of Kovid-19 has also started hovering over the current season of IPL. On Friday, Delhi Capitals (DC) physio Patrick Farhart was found to be Kovid-19 positive. This information has been given in the media release issued by IPL. At present, the medical team of the Delhi Capitals is monitoring Farhart.
