Ravichandran Ashwin drops a truth bomb on Usman Tariq’s action: Pakistan cricketer Usman Tariq has been in the headlines for some time now. He has been gaining interest in his unique action. The Pakistan spinner came into the light during the second T20I game against Australia, after Cameron Green made a ‘chucking gesture’ while he was out on his ball and returning towards the dressing room. His action has been in question for some time now.
Usman Tariq also came out with a reply trolling Green, by sharing an Instagram Story with the caption: “After getting out”, with the video of a kid mocking the Aussie all-rounder. He picked up 2/16 in that game and helped Pakistan to win the game and seal the series.

Previously, ex-ICC umpire Anil Chaudhary gave his verdict on the action by uploading a video on Instagram and explaining everything about his action, confirming it to be legal, and former Australia cricketer Usman Khawaja also came in support of Tariq.

In a recent video on ‘Ash Ki Baat, ’ Ravichandran Ashwin cleared the air on his bowling action as well. He also shed light on the fact that many cricketers played with questionable action over the years.
Ravichandran Ashwin drops truth on Usman Tariq’s action
Ravichandran Ashwin, while speaking on the ‘Ash Ki Baat’ YouTube channel, said, “Usman Tariq’s bowling action — the pause is there, but it is a legally allowed pause. The action looks unusual and there is some novelty in it. He also has two or three variations. However, the final decision rests only with the ICC — it has to be taken by the umpires and the match referees.
Ravichandran Ashwin also took a slight dig at Sunil Narine, whose action has also been questioned, and he has been banned twice for his action. However, he has cleared all the tests and has come back to play cricket. He believes it should be left to the umpires to deal with this matter.
Ravichandran Ashwin also said, “I would also say that there have been players in the past with suspect actions who have played through World Cups, and I don’t want to name them. They continued to play the game. So we don’t need to focus too much on him right now.”
Ravichandran Ashwin concluded, “But I think there needs to be much stricter action on players with suspect actions. If you set such a precedent, many players will continue to play. As I said, there needs to be transparency when it comes to players with suspect actions. That responsibility lies with the ICC — to clearly define the limits: up to this degree is acceptable, beyond that action must be taken. On-field calls should also reflect this. Usman Tariq cleared to bowl
Usman Tariq’s action has been questioned by umpires during the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has even gone through two biomechanical tests at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy.
Interestingly, the officials cleared Tariq’s action and allowed him to continue bowling in the T20 tournament. He also cleared the air, saying that he has two elbows in an arm and they do bend naturally.
