All of a sudden, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans received an unexpected, unnerving moment during a Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match as their expensive uncapped bowler, Prashant Veer, received a knock on the field and was later taken to the hospital for further medical procedures.
Veer suffered the injury, which can be a grade-2 injury, during the ongoing Jharkhand vs Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow, just before lunch. The uncapped Indian cricketer dived on the ground to stop the ball, struck by Jharkhand batter Shikhar Mohan firmly. Veer stopped the ball but injured himself.
Injury to Prashant Veer gutted CSK fans
The incident occurred in the 30th over of the first innings, just before the lunch break. The 20-year-old cricketer from Amethi lay motionless on the ground for a while and clutched his shoulder, which spread a significant amount of panic among the cricket fans, especially among the CSK fans, as their favourite franchise invested a lot of money, trusting in his talent greatly.

It is reported that the CSK recruit Veer was taken to a hospital for further medical support and is unlikely to take part in the match any further. The awkward landing on the ground might have injured his right shoulder.
When he returned to the stadium, his shoulder was supported by a sling. The injury can keep him out of the action for 3 weeks.
Prashant Veer ruled out of cricket action
According to an ESPNcricinfo report, “While he was administered pain-relief spray immediately, Veer was pulled out of the field and taken to hospital for scans. When he returned, his arm was in a sling. He’s unlikely to play any further part in the match.”
“Veer is understood to have suffered a grade-2 tear that could keep him out of action for at least three weeks,” informed further.
The left-handed all-rounder, who is known for his hitting abilities, hit the jackpot when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him for a whopping price tag of a massive ₹14.2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction, making him one of the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history, joining Kartik Sharma as a high-profile young signing for the franchise. The record-making pay cheque Veer received with a lot of expectations ahead of the league.
Jharkhand is leading the race
In the Jharkhand vs Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy match, Jharkhand is currently in the driving seat with quite a bit of comfort, as they still have 9 wickets left in hand after playing 88 overs, scoring 285 runs. For them, the opening pair of Mohan and Sharandeep Singh claimed a 147-run partnership.
Singh scored his second first-class century and remained unbeaten after Day 1, while Mohan departed for 78. At present, Sharandeep Singh is in the crease along with the number 3 batter, Aryaman Sen, who already smashed a half-century.
