The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 had a brilliant start to the 19th edition of the tournament. However, before the start of the tournament, many teams have been struck with injury problems, and many players have been ruled out of the tournament due to major injuries. Now, a new injury has been registered with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Ahead of the SRH’s next match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, as per reports from Cricbuzz, SRH’s England pacer Brydon Carse is unlikely for the KKR vs SRH clash, with the hand injury suffered during practice yet to fully heal. Though he did not play the first game against the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). But the Orange Army has been struck with another injury problem.
Brydon Carse ruled out of IPL?
There was a chance of a change in the squad, with Brydon Carse, who could have played, as the Eden Gardens pitch suits the pacers and generates good bounce, so he might have got a nod, as he is a hit-the-deck bowler and also can swing the new ball. SRH played with Eshan Malinga as their fourth overseas in their last game.

SRH’s regular captain Pat Cummins has joined the squad; however, he has not been featuring in the playing XI due to a back injury he sustained ahead of the Ashes series. Cummins is set to miss some more games before joining the side and is likely to take over the captaincy from Ishan Kishan.
He got hit on the hand in the nets- Daniel Vettori
Previously, head coach Daniel Vettori said, on Brydon Carse’s injury, “He got hit on the hand in the nets when he was batting, on his bowling hand,” Vettori said after the SRH-RCB game. “It was cleared of any break, but there was quite a lot of swelling, and he tried to push for the game, but it was difficult for him to hold the ball.”
“He [Brydon Carse] has been improving, so we are hoping he is available for selection against Kolkata,” Vettori said.
Carse yet to play in IPL
Brydon Carse was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 1 Crore in the 2025 IPL auction. Despite being ruled out of the 2025 season due to a toe injury, Carse was retained for the 2026 season for the same price. However, the injury-prone pacer would look to make a comeback in the remaining games of the IPL.
He has played 14 T20Is and taken 20 wickets at an average of 20.6. In Tests, Carse has been a worker, as evidenced by his performance in the 2025/26 Ashes, where he took the most wickets for England (22). He can also bat lower in the order and hit boundaries. Carse has yet to play an IPL game.
SRH did not have the best of starts to their IPL campaign as they lost to RCB by 6 wickets, and their bowling has been a concern as a target of 200+ was chased down before 16 overs. They would not repeat the same mistake against KKR and find their first points of the IPL.
