Arjun Tendulkar is ready for a new Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Before making his debut with the LSG, Arjun Tendulkar left the LSG captain and Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant with his choice of bat.
The young all-rounder is all set to begin a fresh chapter with the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026 after spending two seasons with the Mumbai Indians. Arjun played only five matches for the Mumbai Indians, so he is aiming to break into the Indian side with strong performances for the LSG.

The Lucknow franchise picked Tendulkar for 30 lakh rupees at the mini auction last year. But before the season even starts, Arjun has already grabbed attention for a very interesting reason.

Actually, one small detail from the LSG nets made headlines as he was using heavy bats just like his father, Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest batters the game has ever seen.
During one of Lucknow’s training camps, Arjun had a fun chat with Rishabh Pant, and that conversation quickly turned into a talking point. Pant welcomed Arjun warmly and even praised him for joining preseason training so soon after his wedding.

It showed Arjun’s hunger to work hard and prove himself. Then came the surprise moment. Arjun revealed that he uses a bat of around “1220 grams,” and that left Pant stunned, as that kind of bat feels too heavy. This also reminded fans of the Master Blaster, who was also famous for using a much heavier bat than many others during his legendary career.
And when Pant asked what the advantage of playing with a heavy bat was, Arjun made it clear that he does not like going below 1200 grams. He replied, “It flies even when you touch it. Dad used to play with 1310-1315. I don’t go below 1200.”

Arjun follows Sachin Tendulkar’s style
Interestingly, Tendulkar had shared that he began playing with a heavier bat at the age of 11, often using his brother Ajit’s bat, and he loved to play with a heavy bat.

He wrote in his autobiography, ‘Playing It My Way’: “I used a pretty heavy bat, and I was sometimes encouraged to move to a lighter one. Again, I did try, but I never felt comfortable, as my whole bat swing depended on that weight. When I was hitting a drive, I needed the weight to generate the power. It was all to do with the timing.”
He added, “To me, the bat should be an extension of your arm, and if you’ve reached the stage where it’s become an extension of your arm, why do you need to change? What mattered to me most when I was batting was feeling comfortable. As long as I felt comfortable, it didn’t matter where I was playing or who I was playing against. If you make technical adjustments, such as moving to a lighter bat, to cope with different conditions, there’s a risk of making yourself feel uncomfortable and of thinking too much about your technique.”
