Aakash Chopra hits back at fan with sharp reply on social media

A war of words has initiated between the former Team India cricketer Aakash Chopra and a net user on the social media platform ‘X’. A ‘X’ profile named ‘gharkachirag’ advises Chopra to use his cricket knowledge only in commentary.

Aakash Chopra did not hold back from giving a reply to the net user. Defending his comments on social media platforms, he asks, ‘gharkachirag’ to avoid foul words next time.

Aakash Chopra pointed out a couple of interesting facts from the MI vs KKR IPL 2026 match

Analyzing the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders (MI vs KKR) match, Aakash Chopra highlighted some critical parts of KKR’s batting and the bowling of MI.

Your daily dose of cricket!

At the Wankhede Stadium on March 29, KKR went to bat first to register a handsome total of 220, which proved not enough to outplay the home side. Despite the result of the match, the former cricketer pointed out some exciting stats from the batting of KKR.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen skyrocketed Knight Rider’s run rate in the powerplays. Chopra observed they did not score a single run through the off-side inside the first 5 overs, which flabbergasted him.

“And KKR didn’t score a single run through the off-side in the first 5 overs. And they were cruising. Can’t remember any other such 5-over phase in T20 recently,” Aakash Chopra wrote on his ‘X’ post.

In the same post, he also mentioned that the Mumbai Indians utilized only two of their bowlers for 2 overs on a trot. Captain Hardik Pandya himself came to bowl the second and fourth over, and he handed the ball to Jasprit Bumrah for the 18th and 20th overs.

Only two bowlers for MI bowled back-to-back over. That too—2 over spells. Boom and Hardik. 2-4 for Hardik. 18-20th for Boom,” he said.

A cricket fan used bad words to criticise Chopra

For some unknown reason, these stats provided by Chopra annoyed the above-mentioned net user so much that they commented using foul words.

“Abe yeh sab gyan commentry mai diya kar na waha sale sab apni apni kahaniya batate ha,” the comment reads.

In reply, Chopra said that he explained the facts using graphics to make the claims authentic.

“Dono baatein ache se batayi thee. Graphics se dikhayi bhi thee. Full-on discussion and dissection. But you carry one bro Baaki Ghar Ke Chirag ho…may be, use slightly better language,” Chopra hit back at the net user.

Other cricket fans also joined the heated exchange

Chopra gets some support during the war of words. A cricket fan backed Chopra by saying, “This has become a routine now. Everybody started targeting the commentators.”

In a warm gesture, Chopra further said that social media platforms are to express thoughts, while some do so to gain extra attention. But he believes that the good work gets acknowledged.

“I didn’t know that Telugu faced this, too. But it’s okay. People have opinions. Platforms are there to express. Some jump on these trends for views, too. But long-term, good work gets acknowledged. Thanks for your kind words,” Chopra replied to thank the cricket fan.
